Alexander Gronsky

Alexander Gronsky's Endless Night series (from the main website, click Artwork, then click Endless Night) examines the Russian town of Murmansk during the long winter night:

Murmansk is the world's biggest town behind the Arctic Circle. Each winter its 300,000 inhabitants experience the night that lasts for two months.

There are seventeen photos in this series. Make sure you wait long enough for the remaining photographs to appear by hovering your mouse over the bottom thumbnail in the column of photographs.

There's also some beautiful snowy landscape photos in his The Edge series.

Also, check out the interesting BBC photo essay about the garages of Murmansk.

I found your blog by searching for photography blogs on blogger, this is the second ok one I found. The photo by Alexander Gronsky is very professional. The other photos in the gallery were ok, but this was the best.

This is a really great shot. The combo of simple colour and scale is great.
